  4. Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU's Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Objectives promulgated by the University.

Our team of five plus student staff serves approximately 1,200 traditional undergraduates and 5,000 adult and distance learners in a dynamic and growing academic library. The library offers a creative and friendly environment that focuses on student and faculty support. We are a flexible team that embraces new technology and user demands to provide excellent library service. Colorado Christian University is a growing institution that is building a new campus in Lakewood and the library team is excited to move the library forward as well.The ideal candidate has strong collaboration skills and commitment to teamwork, is flexible and adaptable, is self-motivated and self-directed, balances creativity and practicality, takes initiative and follows through on projects.

The Library Assistant is a 10-month (August 1 to May 31), full-time, non-exempt (hourly) position in the CCU Library.


Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Student supervision, circulation, clerical tasks, daily routines, and other activities as assigned.
  2. Ability to work responsibly and productively without immediate and continuous supervision.
  3. Demonstrate a commitment to public service when working with library patrons and effective interaction with the librarians, library student staff, other CCU faculty and staff.
  4. Time management, planning, awareness of campus deadlines and procedures and the ability to set priorities are critical to the success of this position.
  5. This position will require evening and occasional weekend hours.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required

  1. An associates or bachelors degree
  2. Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, time management and communication skills
  3. Proven attention to detail and ability to balance multiple tasks in a timely manner
  4. Proficient typing/keyboarding and Microsoft Office Suite capabilities
  5. Strong English skills; spelling, grammar, and punctuation are critical
  6. Attentive to customer service and working in a team environment

Preferred

  1. Supervisory experience
  2. Library experience (can include an internship or practicum)
  3. An understanding of standard library procedures
  4. Marketing or Public Relations experience and a flair for writing brief announcements
  5. Familiarity with the Sierra ILS system

Nature of Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk; stand; sit; climb stairs; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; speak with clarity, have appropriate vision including close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and hearing capabilities. Requires sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and conducting phone conversations for extended periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Will be required to work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.
