Spiritual Requirements

  1. Committed follower of Jesus Christ, who believes there is no salvation apart from faith in his atonement on the cross, by grace alone becoming 'born again' thus beginning a personal relationship with Christ, the Son of God.
  2. Able to effectively communicate personal faith and apply biblical principles and convictions in the workplace. Must have a strong sense of calling to the ministry of Colorado Christian University.
  3. Regularly attend and be engaged in meaningful involvement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church. Knowledgeable about the Word of God and passionate about Christian education.
  4. Must be a traditional evangelical Christian whose lifestyle is in consonance with sound Christian principles, is compatible with CCU's Statement of Faith, and is in agreement with the Strategic Objectives promulgated by the University.

Job Summary

The Library Assistant is a part-time non-exempt (hourly) position in the CCU Library. Duties include student supervision, circulation, clerical tasks, daily routines, and other activities as assigned. It requires a motivated, time sensitive and reliable individual capable of working responsibly and productively without immediate and continuous supervision. Commitment to public service to library patrons and effective interaction with the librarians, library student staff, other CCU faculty and staff, and patrons is essential.

This position will work one evening a week and occasional Saturday hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management and communication skills

  • Proficient typing/keyboarding and Microsoft Office capabilities (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

  • Good English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation are critical

  • Attentive to customer service and working in a team environment

  • The position involves a variety of responsibilities that require weekly, if not daily attention. Planning, awareness of campus deadlines and procedures, and the ability to prioritize are critical to the success of this position

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree

  • Library experience (can include an internship or practicum)

  • An understanding of standard library procedures

  • Supervisory experience

  • Marketing or Public Relations experience and a flair for writing brief announcements

  • Familiarity with the Millennium ILS system

Nature of Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk; stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; speak with clarity, have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
