Job Summary

Colorado Christian University is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated individual with excellent time management skills to serve as Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports and 6th Man. The Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports is responsible for creating a robust Intramural Program that involves a wide variety of the student population. The GA will also assist the Athletic department in the promotion and marketing of athletic events through the 6th Man student organization. The GA reports to the Director of Student Activities.


Duties and Responsibilities

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and schedule of intramural activities (leagues, tournaments, and special events)
  2. Coordinate the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating of student sports officials, scorekeepers, and other staffing of all intramural sports and activities
  3. Supervise the daily operations of the intramural office
  4. Budget, payroll, purchases and equipment inventory
  5. Prepare semester participation statistics and annual report as part of program assessment
  6. Supervise the 6th Man Student Group
  7. Coordinate scheduling of 6th Man events and activities that coincide with athletic competitions
  8. Assist the Athletic Directors in the promotion of athletic events to the student population and with special events as needed
  9. Attendance at night and weekend events required when necessary for supervision of events
  10. Meets weekly with supervisor to discuss progress and concerns regarding initiatives; meets weekly with Intramural student staff
  11. Maintain the policies and procedures relating to the scheduling of events, Student Life calendar, and Master Scheduler working closely with Athletics on facility needs and reservations when necessary
  12. Coordinate with Residence Life Staff and other departments to enhance participation in intramural programming
  13. Assist with development and usage of Student Activities social media efforts
  14. Assists in the coordination of major student activities initiatives which include but are not limited to Orientation, Homecoming, Concerts, New Student Retreat, and Spring Retreat
  15. Attend Student Life department and division meetings
  16. Attend Chapel
  17. Other duties as assigned

  1. Bachelor's degree and acceptance into a graduate program required; CCU graduate program preferred
  2. Exhibit strong knowledge of Intramural Sports program
  3. Participation in intramural sports or collegiate athletics preferred
  4. Strong written and oral communication skills
  5. Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills
  6. Ability to manage and supervise student staff
  7. Exhibits discipleship and mentoring skills
  8. Ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends

While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to walk; stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; speak with clarity, have appropriate vision and hearing capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
