The Program Coordinator is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Director of Graduate Education. The Program Coordinator provides administrative support for the College of Adult & Graduate Studies (CAGS) Division of Curriculum and Instruction Education programs offered through the CAGS Western Center located in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Program Coordinator serves as the liaison between the University and the surrounding school districts in the coordination and support of teacher candidates' education coursework, field experiences, and student teaching assignments, and serves as the liaison with the Division of Curriculum & Instruction Education and other CCU staff in the coordination of CCU education programs scheduled at the Western Center.
The Program Coordinator assists the Director of Graduate Education in program documentation including handbooks, forms, and resources required for field studies, and teaches six (6) semester hours of education field seminars for teacher candidates online or at the Grand Junction location. The Program Coordinator provides leadership for all of the University Supervisors assigned to a region. This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal relationship skills, organizational skills, understanding of adult learning styles, and knowledge of Pre K - 12 education within the State of Colorado. This position is a full time position and requires the individual to work a flexible schedule over a twelve month period.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to the integration of faith and learning.
- Under the direction of the CAGS Director of Graduate Education, provide high quality program support for the CAGS graduate education programs, especially in program documentation including handbooks, forms, and resources, required for field studies.
- Provide leadership and administrative support for all education programs offered through the Western Center.
- Maintain and monitor the status of Western Center education programs through strategic plans and related budgets.
- Maintain program requirements, documents, files, record-keeping and reporting as necessary with the Colorado Department of Education.
- Collect data for annual assessment report and submit to Director of Graduate Education Programs by the end of each semester.
- Serve as instructor for six semester credits of education courses to include ECE/EDU/SED 214A Field I, ECE/EDU/SED 414A Field II, ECE/EDU/SED 497A Student Teaching Seminar I, and ECE/EDU/SED 498A Student Teaching Seminar II.
- Represent Colorado Christian University in establishing a positive working relationship with school districts and personnel that serves to further develop CCU's partnership with school districts providing field placements. Maintain current partnerships with schools and districts and seek new partners to ensure sufficient capacity for placing students in field and student teaching assignments. Become familiar with and maintain records of school and district placement expectations and contacts in order to ensure CCU compliance. Maintain placement records and submit timely status reports to the Director of Graduate Education Programs.
- Serve as the designated CCU local liaison for the University, the school, and the teacher candidate to support the candidates in their field assignments. Monitor teacher candidates' professional development and maintain records of progress for Teacher Performance and Quality Standards, professional behavior and teacher dispositions. Document and communicate concerns to the Director of Graduate Programs using established procedures and appropriate forms. Make recommendations for Teacher Candidates' continued progress through or dismissal from the program. Participate in problem solving meetings as required.
- Provide leadership and mentoring for the University Supervisors serving in the region. Participate in the planning and delivery of an annual orientation for all University Supervisors to be held every August. Hold monthly meetings with University Supervisors while school is in session to discuss and monitor Teacher Candidates' progress in field placements, and the supervisors' working relationships with teacher candidates and cooperating teachers.
- Conduct training as needed for University Supervisors with regard to university policies and procedures and the supervision process, including the consistent use of the university's forms and technology systems.
- Attend meetings, training sessions and other activities that are relevant to the position and which will provide appropriate leadership for University Supervisors and other education affiliate faculty, and teacher candidates in the region.
- Follow all university policies and meet expectations according to established faculty and staff guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Bachelor's degree required, Masters in Education desirable.
- Current Colorado State Teaching or Administrative License preferred.
- Practical knowledge of educational leadership and reform, teacher supervision, Colorado P - 12 Academic Standards, and Colorado Teacher Performance Standards.
- A minimum of five years of proven school teaching experience, having at least three years in a public school setting.
- Previous school administration experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and experience evaluating adult learners.
- Excellent written and oral interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work positively and effectively as a team member and as an individual contributor.
- Able to demonstrate discretion and maintain confidentiality in accordance with university policies and administrative needs.
- Proficiency in appropriate MS Office software required. Ability to use appropriate software and technology in the learning environment. a basic understanding of computer databases; the ability to learn and effectively use the various university systems and operations, including the DataTel and the Blackboard platform.

- Approachable and proactive in delivering prompt accurate and kind customer service to all stakeholders (students, faculty, CCU staff and school districts).
- Able to work in a high energy environment and effectively manage multiple tasks; motivated to achieve goals.

Nature of Work Environment
- Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work. This may involve some lifting; carrying, moving, pushing and/or pulling of objects/materials of light weight (15-20 pounds).
- Work occasional irregular hours, including some nights and weekends.
- Some local and regional travel is expected.
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
